Employment Opportunity – Deputy Clerk/Treasurer
The City of Tawas City is seeking applications for the position of Deputy Clerk/Treasurer. This individual will work with City Hall staff performing a wide range of clerical and administrative support functions for the City. This will include maintaining accurate files and public records, assisting in property tax preparation and collections, accounts payable, and participating in the organization and conduct of elections.
Minimum requirements for qualified applicants include a college degree in finance, accounting, public administration, business management, or a related field. Applicants must also have a minimum of five years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or other financial-based clerical duties; preference may be given to those individuals with municipal finance experience. Applicants must possess strong communication and computer skills and be proficient in Word and Excel. In addition, applicants must be capable of being bonded and successfully pass a background and credit check.
This full-time salary position will start at $37,000 per year, which may increase depending on qualifications, and includes a comprehensive benefit package with paid time off, health insurances, life insurance, short-term disability insurance, and a defined contribution pension plan.
