Boil Water Advisory
Date: December 19, 2025
Affected Areas: All City of Tawas City municipal water services located at 109 North Street West, 113 North Street West, 208 North Street West, 216 North Street West, 300 North Street West, 102 Second Ave, 106 Second Ave, 109 Second Ave, 110 Second Ave, 114 Second Ave, 115 Second Ave, 118 Second Ave, 120 Second Ave, 202 West First Street, 120 West First Street.
Reason for Advisory: Water main break with service interruption and excavation. Water is restored; users are advised to boil their water due to the potential for bacterial contamination of the water supply.
Instructions for Residents:
- BOIL YOUR WATER: For all water used for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, and making ice, bring it to a rolling boil for at least one full minute.
- COOL BEFORE USE: Allow the water to cool before use. Make batches of boiled water in advance for convenience.
- DO NOT CONSUME ICE: Any ice made within the last 24 hours should not be consumed or used for drinking.
- USE FOR WASHING: The water can still be used for bathing and washing hands or dishes as usual. However, for washing dishes, ensure they are sanitized with boiled water, or the water is boiled before use.
- SOFT FOODS: Any softened foods made with tap water (like baby formula, raw vegetables, noodles, etc.) should be prepared with boiled and cooled water.
- ANIMALS OR PETS: You can boil the tap water you give to the animals in your care. Your veterinarian can tell you if this precaution is necessary.
