The City Clerk serves as the official clerk of the City Council and is responsible for attending all City Council meetings, preparing and maintaining the official minutes, and preserving the permanent records of council actions and proceedings.
As the custodian of the official City seal, the Clerk is responsible for maintaining and safeguarding the City’s records, documents, ordinances, resolutions, contracts, and other official municipal records, unless otherwise assigned by law. The Clerk’s Office plays an essential role in ensuring transparency, accuracy, and accessibility in local government operations.
The Clerk’s Office is also responsible for providing proper public notice of City Council meetings, public hearings, and other official meetings in accordance with state law. Notices are published in the Iosco County News-Herald, posted at City Hall, and made available on the City’s website to keep residents informed and engaged.
In addition, the Clerk’s Office assists residents, elected officials, and city departments with a variety of administrative services and serves as an important resource for public information and municipal records.
