Early Voting
Michigan voters approved a Constitutional Amendment in November 2022 establishing the right to early in-person voting for statewide and federal elections.
The Michigan Constitution requires early voting to be available for nine consecutive days prior to each statewide and federal election. Early voting begins on the second Saturday before the election and ends on the Sunday before Election Day. Voting sites must be open for at least eight hours each day during the early voting period.

Absentee Voting Information
Michigan voters approved Proposal 18-3 in November 2018, which allows any registered voter in Michigan to vote by absentee ballot without providing a reason.
In November 2022, voters approved Proposal 22-2, which created the option for voters to join a Permanent Absentee Ballot List. Voters who enroll on the Permanent Absentee Ballot List will automatically receive an absentee ballot for all future elections.
Absentee ballots are available beginning 45 days prior to an election.
To request an absentee ballot application, please contact the Tawas City Clerk’s Office at (989) 362-8688 or email the City Clerk’s Office.
