Tawas City Library
Tawas City Library, 208 W. North St., is a branch of the Iosco-Arenac District Library. Be sure to also visit the Tawas City Library Friends Book Store, open 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. Saturdays at the library. You can also let the kiddos burn off extra energy at the Library Pocket Park which was dedicated as Gordon Clute Memorial Park in 2009, for the cartoon characters that he created and donated to Tawas City. In 2023 the DPW started the process of constructing a “Pathway to Learning” at the library. This new addition a wonderful way to encourage reading and learning!
Pathway to Learning at Tawas City Library
Tawas City’s Pathway to Learning, located next to the Tawas City Library, is open to the public! The teaching panels are located along the award-winning pathway and some of the panels interact with the stencils along the pathway. Users are welcome to stop in to the library and ask for sidewalk chalk to color the stencils.
In the summer of 2024, a local teacher introduced the new Pathway to Learning through a series of educational events for children up to 4th grade.
This project is truly a community project. It was partially funded with revenue from the Iosco-Arenac District Library’s revenue sharing from their voted millage. Captivating Concrete shared their creative talents to install the pathway with the stencils, and they won an award through the Michigan Concrete Association for this project. Bryan and Sue Keys donated the gazebo that is located in the center. The statues created by local artist, Gordon Clute, are placed around the pathway.
We’re so excited about this project and hope our community enjoys it!
